Dr Robin Smith obtained his PhD in nuclear physics in December 2017 at the University of Birmingham under the supervision of Dr C. Wheldon and Prof. M. Freer. Since August 2017, he has been a lecturer in physics at Sheffield Hallam University in the UK. He specializes in the fields of radiation detection, nuclear data, nuclear structure and nuclear astrophysics, examining the shapes of atomic nuclei and determining nuclear cross sections. Robin has authored a number of peer-reviewed publications in both theoretical and experimental nuclear physics. Robin Joined UConn as an Assistant Research Professor in 2019 to aid the analysis of Optical Time Projection Chamber (TPC) data, develop algorithms for electronic TPC data analysis, and mentor graduate students Sarah Stern and Deran Schweitzer.
